In late 2019, a viral outbreak was first reported in China. Soon the virus spread to Europe, the United States, and most of the world. As the number of cases grew worldwide, panic began growing, leading the WHO to officially declare COVID-19 a pandemic, and begin emergency protocols.

In May of that same year, SERVPRO introduced a new program, Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned. This cleaning protocol went far beyond any janitorial program, focusing on viral pathogens such as COVID.  Using protocols and practices suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and professional-grade cleaning and disinfecting products registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the team at SERVPRO headquarters developed something amazing.

For over 50 years, SERVPRO has led the nation in cleaning up some of the worst biohazards imaginable. Using that valuable experience in conjunction with leading Federal Agency guidance, the program was rolled out to all franchises.

The Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned process is grounded in three unique “Cs”:

Consult - A SERVPRO representative will develop a tailored cleaning program to meet your needs – meaning each business will be reviewed to ensure high traffic areas, public spaces, and congestion areas get the level of attention necessary to ensure cleanliness.

Clean - SERVPRO will deliver both proactive and COVID-19 emergency response cleaning – teams will be deployed to get the job done, anytime day or night.

Certify - SERVPRO will certify that your business has been cleaned and sanitized for your employees and customers - the Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned seal will be placed on entrances to let potential customers know that the space has been SERVPRO cleaned.

The pandemic has passed, but the need for this program still exists. COVID-19 cases are still being reported, and the virus has mutated multiple times. None of us can predict the future, and our best defense for future problems is a high level or preparedness.
